OVERVIEW OF PB2 PHOSPHOR BRONZE BS1400 PB2
PB2 Phosphor Bronze is continuous cast tin bronze with a higher tin content than PB1 Phosphor Bronze but is lower in phosphorus content. The full specification title is BS1400 PB2 CuSn11P and it also conforms to the European norm BS EN 1982-2008 CC483K CuSn12-C. The alloy can tolerate high loads and high sliding velocity, impact loading or pounding. For bearing applications good lubrication and alignment is essential and requires a minimum shaft hardness of 300HB.
PB2 Phosphor Bronze BS1400
PB2 Phosphor Bronze / BS1400 PB2 is a phosphor bronze, commonly referred to as "Gear Bronze", which conforms to the requirements of B.S. 1400 - 1985 alloy PB2. PB2 Phosphor Bronze has good machining properties, high strength and good corrosion resistance to seawater and brine, making it suitable for pump and valve components.
PB2 BS1400 Phosphor Bronze
PB2 Phosphor Bronze benefits from excellent wear resistance with good machinability. With increased tin content when compared to PB1, PB2 phosphor bronze alloy benefits from excellent wear resistance. The product offers high strength and good machining characteristics. Good corrosion resistance is also a feature, particularly in saltwater and brine environments. Often referred to as a ‘gear bronze’, PB2 Phosphor Bronze finds typical use in applications such as pump and valve components and bearings which are subject to medium to high loads and speeds.

PB2 Phosphor Bronze is suitable for bearings having medium to high loads and speeds, and has good resistance to impact loading or pounding. PB2 Phosphor Bronze bearings must have adequate lubrication and good alignment. PB2 Phosphor Bronze is suitable for heavy duty gears and wormwheels with high working loads and high speeds and adequate lubrication and alignment.
